The Hotel

Your accommodation is provided in a family run hotel which has stood in the centre of Llanwrtyd Wells for over 155 years. Its 19th century character, complete with open log fires, has been preserved in the lounge and public bars, character that has all but disappeared in this age of makeovers and updating of hostelries.

All of our 20 rooms have en-suite facilities with either bath, shower, or both. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and freeview TV. Whilst not necessarily appealing to those who prefer a bland, uniform corporate style of hotel, our rooms are quirky and individual, with sloping floors and wonky doors, vintage furniture (sometimes matching), and individual decoration. Don’t expect a Premier Inn! We are happy to accept well-behaved dogs, but do not allow them in the restaurant.

Facilities include the traditional farmers’ Bell Bar featuring the original servants’ bells, and a comfortable Lounge Bar. Both bars serve a wide range of Real Ales, brewed on the premises. There is also a games room for pool, quoits and darts, and a Residents’ T.V. Lounge which is equipped with a selection of books and numerous jigsaw puzzles.

The Hotel has its own coin-operated launderette which is open to guests and the public.

We have a reputation for our good home cooking including vegetarian dishes and a wide range of curries (one of our specialities). We will always try to accommodate any particular dietary requirements. Visit the restaurant page here for an example menu.

Finally, the hotel has also a unique association with a famous celebrity, Screaming Lord Sutch. Click here to read more about this eccentric British slice of social history.
